When Did You Last Perform A Security Audit?

By Daniel Turbin

For many businessmen and girls around the country, the thought of web security is an obscure one. Sure, sure, you'll have spent some money to put a basic system ready and yes, you may have gotten lucky so far and not been the victim of a hacking attack. The issue is though, are you wanting your businesses continued survival to be left to blind chance?

Would you like to leave the future of the business you've spent hundreds, perhaps thousands of hours nurturing and growing, to be left to Lady Luck? If the answer to that particular question is no, then you must make the time to pay attention to data integrity, as the statistical data are not on your side.

If you don't have a solid system in placeif you do not have that system tested regularly, and make sure that all the elements which make up the layers of your data integrity are frequently updated, then it is just a matter of time until you are hit.

Maybe you'll get lucky. Maybe they will pass you by, or even if you do get hacked, you will be one of the lucky few who don't see much of an impact to your net position, but again, do you truly want to count on that many 'maybes' all falling into line for you?

Better by far to take a pro-active approach. Put a solid system in place ( or at a minimum one that you are feeling is solid ), then make preparations to have it stress tested intermittently ( most individuals suggest yearly, at a minimum ) to ensure that the protections you have established are up to the task of keeping your business safe.

Protect your business. Protect your information. To do that in today's business environment means more than keeping a lock on your door and keeping your insurance paid up. In today's environment, it also implies making sure you have solid method of protection from hacking in effect.
