By Agnes Franco

A thin blade used in cutting papers that are glued together in a stack is referred to as a mat board cutter. This is looked at as a craft because it is all about being able to work with the materials and tools in doing the cutting. For example it is required that the blade used be very thin to prevent it from tearing the paper.

We do have both the Manual and the computerized cutters just like any other equipment. These Manual ones will have a guiding rail which provides clear guidelines with demonstrations giving a proper guide. On the other hand, computerized ones will be automated although they will need the help of an expert to be able to execute its commands as required.

It is a business venture just like any other to do this cutting. Needs expertise due to its complications and the attention needed. You find that the cutting waivers and gives a rough cut which is put back to line by either replacing the blade or using a sand paper. A mat board has to be flawless if it has to be any appealing.

People will always have different preferences especially with the shapes and colors of these mats. A vendor will need to be versatile in the shapes they come up with. Some of the common shapes are; octagon, Stars, triangles and such like shapes.

The benefits of this are so many but to outline just a few; the power to enhance subtle details of photographs and pictures making them appear very attractive. Once this pictures and paintings are hanged in houses they then become decorations to the house. This is for the fact that they are of different colors. Lastly is the business sense of it. People get their daily bread from this business.

A Mat Board Cutter can refer to the blade which cuts. Also, it may refer to a person who does this job. They work hand in hand because the tool needs a skilled operator to be able to work. It is a undeniably a unique and special practice.
