How To Monetize Your Site - 3 Under-Utilized Methods

By Julio Ross

When you create a website and aim to earn money from it, you need to know the proper ways to monetize it. You can earn money from a website in a number of ways, but the same techniques don't work equally well for everybody. You have to monetize your site in a way that appeals to you and works for your particular niche and customers. The way you build an online business is to monetize your site and gradually increase your efforts and profits over time. If you want to know how to make money from your website, this article will provide you with three methods.

Our first method is a long-term strategy with great potential, and it involves what is called, sponsored reviews. The company that pioneered and made sponsored reviews popular is PayPerPost, which gave rise to many other such marketplaces. A site or blog monetizing in this way will let you join, and then you will write about a topic you select based on a range of topics appropriate for that site. There are all sorts of benefits to using this monetization method, even though it's a long-term strategy. Once you are receiving enough traffic, then you won't need to use third party companies to do sponsored reviews.

Another way to make money from your website is through RSS ads. RSS feeds, Really Simple Syndication, is nothing new online, and it provides another means to get your content out there, and of course it didn't take online marketers long to figure out how to monetize it. For example, Feedburner has a network for publishers, and you can use their service to accomplish this if you want. You can register and join Feedburner for free, of course, and their ad model employs the CPM method.

How about monetizing your site with surveys or even polls? Yes, there are businesses that will pay webmasters a fee for conducting polls/surveys on their websites. What you'll do is register with these companies, and then you can choose what kind of survey or poll you want to host on your site. These businesses run their advertising based on CPM, or cost per thousand.

In summary, the monetization methods that we looked into above are in no way the only methods available for you to make money from your site. You have to keep your eyes open to add new streams of income to your site from time to time, and in order to grow your chances of success, you'll have to keep experimenting with different tactics. Always try to avoid becoming too comfortable with your situation because you never know when change will happen.
