Where Famous Chefs Went to School

Interested in becoming a famous chef? If this is your ultimate dream then the first step to take is to get the culinary education necessary. A lot of the country's successful chefs completed culinary education, which helped them excel n their careers today. Certainly you are probably eager to learn where exactly your favorite chef went to school so you can hope to follow in his or her footsteps. Discover in this article just where top chefs went to culinary school. The list varies from the French Culinary Institute, to the Culinary Institute of America, which are just some of the very best schools in the United States.

Rocco DiSpirito, Culinary Institute of America - A famous American chef, Rocco DiSpirito is known for his original Italian-American cooking. He earned his culinary degree in 1986 from the CIA. From that time he has had various restaurant businesses and is also popular for his cookbooks and television shows. Currently he hosts "Rocco's Dinner Party," on Bravo TV.

Emeril Lagasse, Johnson and Wales University - Emeril Lagasse graduated from Johnson and Wales University in 1978 and was given an award of honorary doctorate years after. Emeril participated in different facets of cooking from becoming a celebrity chef, to a television personality, and even a cookbook author, and restaurateur. He gained fame from his cooking shows at the Food Network, which include: "Emeril Live" and "Essence of Emeril." Emeril is an American chef most popular for his Louisiana/Creole cooking that he combines with Portuguese, Southwestern, and Asian influences.

Bobby Flay from The French Culinary Institute - Bobby Flay graduated from the French Culinary Institute with a culinary arts degree in 1984. A couple of years after completing his education he became a partner in his very first restaurant, which became popular - Mesa Grill. In addition to being an owner of successful restaurants all throughout the United States, Flay became popular through the many TV shows he starred in, including his cooking show, "Boy Meets Grill," "Throwdown! With Bobby Flay," and lots more others. In addition to becoming a television personality, Flay has authored more than ten cookbooks. He is recognized for his Southwestern cuisine and his expertise with the grill.

Cat Cora from the Culinary Institute of America Greek-American chef Cat Cora is recognized for her Greek-American cooking. She became popular through her appearance in the "Iron Chef America" TV show. She first finished with a bachelor's degree in biology before enrolling into the Culinary Institute of America. On top of the many TV shows she has joined, she has also been successful restaurant owner showcasing her Mediterranean cuisine.

A lot of top chefs are still successful even without going to cooking school. But of course the right way is to still enroll yourself into cooking school and get the proper education. Becoming a chef is hard work so aside from being passionate about cooking, it is important that you are ready to take on all the work necessary to do well. Culinary school will help you gain the skills and reach your dreams of getting to the top.
